    About the artist:

Acrylic paints is what I prefers to do, I have done oil. Make hobby crafts, drums, turtle shells and I don?t do sculpture. He first draws what he see and then puts them away and then paints them. Buffalo, wolfs, Native Americans, dogs, horses; Indian in battle or hunting buffalo, & bears. I started painting in 1974, but before that I did water coloring from the age of 4 & 5 years, old teacher from Roussin School Mr. Taylor was his instructor and an artist. First acrylic paint was flat and didn?t have any movement at all, and I had an apache Indian taught him about black and white painting. Black and white is shading colors only. I work on Canvas mostly, stretch canvas, masonite is the best but it cost a lot. I did a lot of cartoons; TM times have a lot of my cartoons, Joe Lacar, Crazy cat and Indians for about 1 yr. I have paintings in AZ at an Art Gallery, mirror of native from the 1st WW and Ira Hass in uniform Blue River Art Gallery, all over Phoenix, cartoon for people in Spain, Europe and other parts of the world. You need to know your paints, bushes, etc. Why did you start painting? My cousin was in the Korea war when he returned he started drawing horses and then I started to draw by his side and then my mother?s walls got painted and then car bodies outside the house so then my mother started buying me paints to continue my work. I do use colored pencils, crayons; I also work on deer hides which are the best for acrylic paints, stays for a long time. Drums that I make I like to use buffalo hide, stomach part, and I do use cow hide as well. I also paint on my drums, buffalo, white buffalo calf lady, and other kinds of designs. I also did cartoons for Lakota Times as well. I am passing it down to my grandson at the present, his father has passed and so I am teaching him my style. The one thing I noticed about him is that he draws upside down and if you do that you can see all the mistakes. I do that now as well. Gabriel Dumont is a direct decent of him (grandson).
